Miyashita Skate Park

Miyashita Skate Park overview

Miyashita Park is a skate park located in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo (Google Maps). I recently visited and had a fantastic time there, so I wanted to share my experience.

Pricing and Entry

If you live within Shibuya, the cost for adults is 500 yen. For those living outside of Shibuya or for skateboarding tourists, the cost is 1,000 yen for 2 hours. You purchase a wristband at the park office and then show it to the staff when you enter the park. You also have to sign a waiver before using the park.

Safety and Atmosphere

There are staff watching the park at all times, so if you happen to get injured, help is always close by.

The atmosphere at Miyashita was really friendly. The skategoers there were all very well-mannered and always offering you use of a bowl. There was a particularly nice gentleman there who gave me some great advice on how to turn better when doing bowl riding, which I really appreciated. He also gave me advice on a nice skateshop called FESN Laboratory (Far East Skate Network), which apparently has a good selection of surfskates. That is definitely somewhere I want to check out.

The Park

The park consists of three bowls in total. Near the entrance, there is a great starter ramp area that is perfect for warming up and getting comfortable.

From there, you have two great bowls where you can do some great carving.

All in all, Miyashita Park is a brilliant skate park. I will definitely be going back there next time to practice more.
